Not to beat a dead horse, but Baths is playing the Troubadour on Saturday night (tomorrow!) with Braids and Gobble Gobble. His will be one of the best sets you’ll see all year, so you should probably see it. Also, I’ve posted about this before, but Will Wiesenfeld’s ambiently inclined side project Geotic has since made it onto the greater blogosphere’s radar, and it seems like a good time to remind all-a-y’all that his entire oeuvre under that name is available for free over here. <Click there. Feature: Valley Boredom Inspires Baths to Great Heights on His Anticon Debut, ‘Cerulean’

So we’ve really made no attempts to hide our enthusiasm for Chatsworth producer/musician/singer Baths, a.k.a. fresh Anticon signing Will Wiesenfeld. We’ve previewed his gigs, big-upped his ambient works as Geotic, talked about the young star on the radio, and basically become dude’s personal documentarian via news updates (a couple of those below).

Finally, things may cool down a bit.

This isn’t so much because anything’s cooling down for Wiesenfeld, a rising star in indie music, but because we were able to do a lengthy feature on Baths for L.A. Weekly, dubbed, “The Great Escape.” Wiesenfeld was kind enough to donate a few hours to the cause, which meant lunch at the estimable Islands, and hang-time with him and his mom at the family home in Chatsworth.

Okay, side-project may not be entirely accurate considering Will Wiesenfeld founded Baths last September, but while the fruits of that better-known project bounce around the blogosphere, it’s a good time to dig up a little more of the 21-year-old Valley-dweller’s past.

Wiesenfeld also makes music as Geotic, and it’s beautiful stuff. Far more minimal, often ambient, though decidedly not drone-y, these songs are excellent for headphones, lazy afternoons and night driving. And best of all, they’re entirely free. Download Geotic music here. We recommend you start with the Eyes LP and the “Waterway” single.
